10 SEO Tools You Can’t Live Without

April 13, 2008

Any SEO Knows that a good SEO is only as good as the tools he uses. Sure you can do everything by hand but this can be a tedious and time consuming task.

Listed below are the FREE SEO Tools that I and YOU can’t LIVE without!:

  • Rank Checker: This is an exceptional tool similar to the tool you can find with SEO Elite but the great thing about rank checker is its free! Rank checker allows you to enter as many URL’s as you want and check to see where you are ranking for your targeted keywords in the major engines. You can check Google, Live, Yahoo and what makes this tool go from amazing to exceptional is you also can check localized search i.e. Google.ca. Gotta love SEO Book Arron Wall is the man!
  • SEO Book Keyword Suggestion Tool: What can I say SEO Book did it again I use the SEO Book Keyword Suggestion Tool everytime I do a competitive analysis of a keyword or am working a up a proposal for a new client. Seo Book’s Keyword Tool allows you to quickly find what keywords you want to target and the estimated search volumes for major search engines on a daily bases. Seriously bookmark it you need this.
  • SEO For FireFox: Is another crucial tool for SEO you need it because it puts crucial SEO data right in the Search Results when its enabled. It allows you to see variables such as a websites Page Rank, Age, # of External Links, Cached date, Compete.com Uniques, and the list goes on. Trust me if you are looking for a quick way to evaluate a keyword and the difficulty of ranking for a keyword you need SEO For Firefox!
  • Backlink Analyzer: This is a pretty neat tool I found recently similar to the tool you can find at SEOMoz it allows you to quickly analyze wither or not a link is worth getting from the domain you fire into it. Remember these are suggestions and they only use available data to analyze the site but you should really do things be hand when evaluating a sites link worth. Still a great FREE tool to use!
  • On Page SEO Analyzer: Same website also a cool tool. This is more for analyzing your sites on page elements and tweaking them for improvement. You need to be skeptical of tools like this because to fire out perfect scores you probably would be over optimized so don’t worry about getting 100 out of 100 just make it comfortable for a human and comfortable for a search engine.
  • SEO Fight Tool: Ok fine maybe you can live without this one but still its pretty cool. What it does is takes multiple variables and compares two sites to help decide which site out SEO’s the other! Sure its not essential but if your competing for a keyword and you want to ballpark how much better the number one site is compared to you. Use this tool to check that out!
  • SiteMap Generator: Wow was I happy when this tool came out I can’t tell you how much time and effort this tool has saved me. It simply generates you a free html and xml sitemap with all the pages you have (up to 500 free) so you can post it to your site as your sitemap. Definitely a must have for SEO it gives the search engine spiders a map on how to crawl your site fast. This is important because if you give the spiders a guide they will always cache the right sites in the right priority.
  • Crazy Egg Heat Map: This is a really cool tool that once registered (free btw) allows you to track user behavior on your site. You can view a heat map of where users are drawn to on your site and cluster maps of clicks. This may not be SEO related its more for conversion purposes but its really cool and you cant deny that!
  • Keyword Rich Domain Name Generator: Domain names are hard to figure out and hard to make this tool allows you to try and figure out a good domain name that has your target keyword in it. Once again use with caution there is nothing more stupid then getting a domain name like my-keyword-is-in-this-domain-name-its-way-to-long-to-help-me-at-all-with-seo.com see not exactly appealing really you should only have one hyphen max in the domain.
  • SEO Quake: Well its basically the same thing as SEO for Firefox with a few different features. I have both because seo quake works for google blogs also and a few other things that SEO for FireFox does not. The good thing about SEO Quake is that it allows you to organize your search engine result page (SERPS) by multiple values. For example you can organize the page by pagerank. I dont think I need to explain it much more you can use either one of the tools personally I use both SEO For FireFox and SEO Quake depending on the situation.

Of Course if your looking for all of these features built into one handy desktop application you can’t go wrong with SEO Elite it allows you to do all the things listed above (minus the crazy egg and sitemap) and much more. I have SEO Elite and for me its paid for its self at least 100 times with time its saved and new clients I could take on if your serious about SEO you will Get SEO Elite.

  7. Search engine optimization is indeed an important strategy to increase traffic into your website. If you have an online business, more visitors mean higher possibility of buyers. And if you have a monetized blog, more visitors mean higher possibility of more people clicking on the ads. I do SEO for my websites and blogs. And this has helped me a lot in my success.
